Objective and Purpose of the Assignment:
The proposed project aims to improve environmental, health and living conditions of urban residents in Huangshi Municipality in Hubei Province, People’s Republic of China (PRC) through improvements to urban environmental management system and services.’ The project will support wastewater management, lake rehabilitation, sludge treatment and disposal, pilot solid waste management scheme, and institutional strengthening and capacity development of related urban environmental services.
In order to manage the spatial distributed drainage pipeline networks, a GIS application system should be developed and established at the same time. The GIS system will manage the drainage asset, provide the operation and maintenance of the drainage system, and wastewater discharged from various pollution sources.
The objective of the component is to develop practical and effective GIS system for the drainage/sewerage, both storm water and wastewater, in HDMD. Based on this information platform, more reasonable and optimized planning, operation & maintenance, management and integrated analysis could be obtained for the drainage systems (pumping stations, network, WWTP, etc.). The GIS system will support the drainage assets management in HDMD too. A server installed with GIS system and geo-database will set up in HDMD, a terminal of the system should be set up in Huangshi Municipal & Utility Bureau via Internet.
